Never Stop Exploring

Destination: South America

In the fall of 1995, my work assignment was to ferry the airplane from Calgary, Canada to Antarctica where I spent the following summer flying various scientific missions all over the frozen continent. This was my first (and so far the only) visit to South America. But that was enough to get me inspired. We flew low and slow enough to take a good look at the land bellow us. It was amazing! From turquoise waters of Caribbean, jungles of Central America, deserts of Peru, Bolivia and Chile and alongside seemingly never ending snowcapped mountains of Andes and over hundreds of miles of pristine beaches of the Pacific Ocean, all the way down to Patagonia. South America has it all. I was hooked and I knew I had to come back.

Well, it took “only” 28 “short” years. I am on my way to South America. This time, I am riding my motorcycle so I can take a close & personal look. I have no itinerary and no time constraints. I will ride wherever and whenever I want. The “plan” is to ride from my home town of Squamish (45km north of Vancouver) all the way down to Patagonia AND back. I will be taking lots of pictures and will write frequent entries in the blog to share my experiences. I will be happy if you can join me on my journey.
