1. Prologue
Welcome to my website! Here you can find everything about my trip to South America on my motorcycle. Pictures, journal and everything else I feel like posting and sharing will be here. You are here, that means the website is live for the whole world to see (no pressure). Until few weeks ago I had a zero knowledge about building websites or coding. I have created this site all by myself and let me tell you, it was and still is, a very steep learning curve. I want the site to be simple with pictures, maps and few words about what I’ve been up to. I think I’ve done it. I’ve been travelling and living in some very interesting places around the world. Taking photos everywhere I went. My friends keep asking me when will I write a book or publish my photos. For many reasons, I’ve never done it but this is where I start, I guess.
About the website. Individual sections will be grouped by geographical location as ride through it. Blog will have section CAN/US, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras etc. The current geographical section where I am at that time will be at the top. Inside those sections will be individual blog reports which are numbered. Each geographical section starts at #1. The most recent post will be at the top of that section. The same idea in Photo section. The Route is self explanatory. I will create the route as ride it and will be divided by days. If you click on the top left corner of the map, it opens up a list of my overnights. You can zoom in and out of the map to see exactly where I have been.
My website doesn’t discriminate about your size. If you read it on your desktop, laptop, tablet or your phone, it should come up pretty much the same. However, as the most of my pictures are high resolution, the bigger is better 😉
If you see an underlined text in blue colour, it is a HYPERLINK. It will mostly be a place or a name. If you click on it, the whole website will blow up! You didn’t do it, did you? 😂 Actually, clicking on it will take you to another site (usually Wikipedia) for further explanation or to give more info.
The last few years have been very challenging for all of us. For me, I’ve lost my job and I am in the process of losing my house as well. Well, maybe I should clarify that statement 😉. I didn’t exactly lose my job, I have retired early, so I can do stuff like this. And I didn’t lose my house either. I will be renting it out while travelling. I am packing now and moving all my stuff to another place. Real PITA, let me tell you. I live in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. It is about 45 km north of Vancouver, half way on the way to Whistler. It is an awesome playground if you like outdoors. I call it “my little fishing village in the mountains”. Even though the town itself is at the sea level, it is surrounded by some serious mountains. Mount Garibaldi at 2,678m is only 17 km NE from my house which is only 6 m above sea level.
