10. The last day in the USA

I wasn’t looking to ride today. the weather forecast was calling for even hotter temps and I was heading to the hottest place around. The plan was to get up at dark o’clock again and leave before the sunrise to beat the heat. I’ve got everything ready the night before, I just through my bags on the bike and off I go. 400 km ahead of me to Presidio, TX. And I wanted to be there before noon. And I’ll be changing clock again, loosing one hour. The ride was actually pleasant for the first 2 hrs. Boring as hell going through Texas desert. Then few hills appeared. But I was off the freeway and I took secondary roads with nobody on it. Not really too much to talk about here. And there was nothing to take pictures of.

The last hour was a scorcher again. I finished my water as I was reaching my destination. I could se Mexico from here. Presidio, TX is actually a dual town with the border in between them. Presidio is was was past its prime, to be PC. However, it looks like the business in the town of Ojinaga on the Mexican side is much better then in Texas.

I booked my hotel last night so no drama with an accommodation. But my room was not ready. Not a biggie, I went for a lunch in a Mexican restaurant next door. Might as well start the acclimatization process. I also need a Mexican motorcycle insurance as our ICBC ends at the border. Not too many options where to get it. I found an agency but nobody was there. I call the number at the door and the guys showed up in 5’. And in other 10’ I walking out with mexican papers and USD$ 350 lighter. Still better than ICBC 🤯.

The rest of the afternoon was spent updating my maps, downloading stuff as I have a fast internet after awhile. I try to post all the blog and photo updates so I leave the US clean.

Mexico bound tomorrow. I’ll again try to leave early. Not a big day, less then 300 km to Chihuahua.

See you on the other side!
