8. Independence Day

15 September is Independence Day in Guatemala and few other countries in Central America. This year it was 202nd birthday. The celebration here in Antigua last 3 days! Parades, parades and more parades. Mostly schools’ musical bands and dancing groups. The parade goes through the entire city in the morning and in the afternoon. Antigua is always busy on weekends being the capital Guatemala City’s playground. Not to mention a huge contingents of gringos. It was hot day and luckily no rain. I felt bad for many school kids who had to walk on pretty bad cobble stones streets in their dress shoes and in some instances even high heels. It was an interesting festival of local music, folklore, colours and people.

I focused this time on capturing diversity of people and here are some of few hundred pictures I took.
