11. Starbucks etc.
I don’t usually go to the mass food or beverage franchise establishments, especially when travelling. However, on Saturday morning at 6:30 in Antigua there is nothing open except Starbucks. I went out yesterday very early to beat the crowds in the city and try to take some pictures without hundreds of people blocking the view. And it was so nice. I do not like getting up this early but when it comes to take pictures, I will happily get up at any time of the day or night. Another benefit here was that it is nice and cool early in the morning.
Starbucks here is awesome. They have all the goodies we are used to plus some local stuff as well. BUT, it is very expensive. On par or more with North America. I have no idea how can locals afford it. They can’t is the short answer. Mostly gringos there and rich locals. But the store is beautiful with a huge courtyard inside. They have local mural paintings, pictures and carvings everywhere. They put lot of effort into that place. And the Mocha tastes exactly the same like at home.
Anyway, I walked around after the breakfast and here are some pictures.
